Johannes Willi: The Truth About Pain

In 2019 artist Johannes Willi spent six months researching and developing an artistic project on the topic of chronic pain in exchange with scientists, caregivers and patients. His residency was curated and organised by the artists-in-labs program and conducted in collaboration with the Institute for Biomedical Ethics and History of Medicine and the Centre for Pain Medicine Nottwil (Swiss Paraplegic Centre). Part of the residency were a six weeks workshop with students of Zurich University of the Arts including a performative exhibition titled „The Truth about Pain“, a lecture performance and panel discussion during the „Lange Nacht der Philosophie“ in Zurich (in collaboration with Alte Anatomie) as well as several public presentations.

The artists-in-labs residency „Das Unsichtbare erfahrbar machen - Schmerzpatient*innen und ihre Erzählungen“ was supported by the Stanley Thomas Johnson Stiftung.
