The Institute of Biomedical Ethics and History of Medicine of the University of Zurich in collaboration with the Messerli Research Institute will offer the first Emerging-World Symposium on November 23, 2017.

Emerging-World is a new symposium series that seeks to analyze ethical issues of emerging biotechnologies from a multidisciplinary perspective. In the inaugural edition the focus is on an interdisciplinary analysis of pressing moral concerns regarding genome editing in animals.

Keynote speakers from science, law and ethics talk about CRISPR/ CAS9 genome editing, gene drive, genetic animal engineering and chimera-research. Each Keynote lecture is followed by an extensive open discussion.

Theme

Emerging technologies in animals: CRISPR Cas9 genome editing and gene drive in animals, chimera engineering and genetic enhancement.
