The article “How I Would have been Differently Treated. Discrimination Through the Lens of Counterfactual Fairness” has just been published in the topical issue of Res Publica on “Discrimination, Fairness, and the Use of Algorithms”.
The work is co-authored with Michele Loi and Francesco Nappo (equal contribution).

The authors propose an account of discrimination in which an act or policy is discriminatory if and only if a counterfactual condition is met, and show that the philosophical accounts of discrimination that do not include such a counterfactual condition face significant objections.
