Simone Redaelli, Dr. rer. nat.

Short Bio

Simone received a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Milan in 2013. He then pursued a Master's degree in Molecular Biology of the Cell from the University of Milan in 2015, conducting his research thesis on cardiovascular development in Monica Beltrame's lab.

In 2021, Simone earned his doctoral title in the field of Regenerative Medicine from Gilbert Weidinger's lab at Ulm University, where he investigated the role of Bmp signalling in heart regeneration.

During his time as a doctoral student, he co-founded Culturico, a non-profit, non-partisan, non-ideological cultural and scientific media platform, which aims at fighting misinformation and innovate journalism.

He now works as Medical Writing Manager at Segno&Forma, a science and medical communication agency.

Since April 2024, Simone joined the Institute of Biomedical Ethics and History of Medicine (IBME), University of Zurich, as an associated researcher to identify and study which critical thinking skills are necessary to improve the recognition of misinformation and to build information literacy, thus helping the general public to better navigate through the global infodemic.

Ongoing Projects

Can mastering critical thinking skills help the general public to navigate through the global infodemic? We are testing whether the training of critical thinking skills helps individuals to develop information literacy and better recognize misinformation online.
