Short Bio
Ilja Richard Pavone, PhD at Sapienza University of Rome in International Law, is Senior Researcher of International Law and at the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), Rome, and Professor of European Law and Biotechnologies at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart. He has been several times visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Public Comparative Law and International Law (Heidelberg) and in other foreign universities (such as, for instance, Bochum University, Brisbane University and New York University). In the past, he has taught at the universities of Macerata, Rome (Sapienza), Siena Venice (Venice International University), and Viterbo (La Tuscia). Dr. Pavone is an active member of the European Society of International Law (ESIL), and he is Chair of the ESIL Interest Group on International Biolaw. He is author of 'Global Pandemics and International Law: An Analysis in the Age of COVID-19', Routledge, London, 2025. He has published several articles on bioethics, global health law, environmental law, animal law, human rights law in italian and foreign reviews.
