Short Bio
Federico Giovannini is a Junior Stehr-Boldt Fellow at the UZH Institute of Biomedical Ethics and History of Medicine (IBME). He holds a Master of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biotechnology from the University of Trento, where he graduated in 2025 with a focus on Cancer Biology. During his studies, he gained research experience at the Centre for Integrative and Computational Biology (CIBIO) of the University of Trento, working in an RNA Biology Laboratory studying the development of therapeutic approaches for neurodegenerative diseases, and in a Chromatin Biology and Epigenetics Laboratory investigating epigenetic mechanisms involved in metastatic breast cancer. Driven by interdisciplinary interests at the intersection of biomedical sciences, ethics, and healthcare innovation, Federico pursued further studies in Bioethics at KU Leuven, where he graduated in 2026. As part of his master’s thesis, he conducted a scoping review on the ethical dimensions of hospital policies affecting nurse workload, time management, and staffing, with particular attention to the role and impact of ethical leadership. At the IBME, Federico is a member of the Information, Technology & Experimental Ethics (ITE) Lab, where he contributes to research in the field of AI ethics and its applications in healthcare.
