Short bio

Beatrix Göcking is a bioethicist and qualitative researcher whose work focuses on ethical challenges in healthcare and gender-sensitive approaches in medicine. She obtained a PhD in Biomedical Ethics and a Maters’s degree in Religious Studies with a minor in Gender Studies from the University of Zurich. She is also a certified intensive care nurse with more than 25 years of clinical experience. The interdisciplinary background enables her to conduct research that bridges academic inquiry and clinical practice.

During her doctoral studies, she explored health-related experiences to gain valuable insights into patients’ and loved ones' perspectives and developed a preference-sensitive decision-making timeline to inform future decision-support tools.

Through her qualitative and conceptual approach, she integrates multiple perspectives to address complex ethical and clinical challenges, aiming to foster sustainable improvements in healthcare. Beyond academia, she is passionate about fostering diversity and inclusion in scientific and socio-political discussions, specifically addressing gender-specific healthcare gaps.
