Stehr-Boldt Fellowship Award in Biomedical Ethics
We are delighted to invite applications for the Stehr-Boldt Fellowship Award in Biomedical Ethics at the Institute of Biomedical Ethics and History of Medicine (IBME), University of Zurich.
This opportunity is open to early-career and established researchers from any discipline or country who are engaged in work related to biomedical ethics, particularly in areas touching on health pol-icy and public health.
The Stehr-Boldt Fonds supports scholarly excellence in biomedical ethics by funding research stays at the IBME. Fellows will benefit from office space, access to relevant academic resources, mentor-ing, and rich opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and exchange.
Fellows are expected to engage actively with IBME’s academic life: collaborating with an in-house project or researcher, maintaining a regular presence at the institute, contributing to peer discus-sions and presenting their work at the IBME Research Colloquium. Following the stay, we kindly ask fellows to submit a short report reflecting on their experience and outlining any progress or out-comes achieved. We also ask that the fellowship be acknowledged in any resulting publications
Fellowships are available for periods ranging from 3 to 12 months and include a stipend to help cover accommodation and living expenses. Please note that the stipend may not fully cover all costs. The monthly amount is CHF 3,500 for senior fellows and CHF 2,000 for junior fellows. An ad-ditional amount of up to CHF 3,000 may be granted to cover travel expenses incurred to and from Zurich. Selection will be based on the scientific excellence of the applicant, the originality and rele-vance of their proposed project, and its alignment with the fellowship’s focus. Proposals may be conceptual, analytical, or empirical in nature. Applicants are encouraged to suggest potential col-laborations with IBME researchers during their stay.
