Curriculum Vitae

Since July 2017, Andrea Glässel is a research associate at the Institute for Biomedical Ethics and History of Medicine (IBME) and she is working in the group of DIPEx Swiss (Database of Individual Patient Experiences). In March 2017, she received her DIPEx certificate by the Nuffield department of Primary Care Health Sciences of the University of Oxford, focusing on qualitative research into people’s personal experiences of health and illness.

In addition to her research at IBME, since 2015 Andrea is a lecturer and researcher in qualitative research methods and interprofessional teachings at the School of Health Professions, Institute of Health Sciences (IHS), at the Zurich Applied University of Sciences (ZHAW). Since 1991, Andrea is a trained physiotherapist and worked ten years in in- and outpatient settings where she was 5 years head of an interprofessional department of motor neurorehabilitation. Andre a graduated 2001 with a Bachelor degree in Physiotherapy at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hildesheim, Germany including one semester at the Faculty of Health at the University of Linköping, Sweden. Since 2006, she holds a Master’s degree in Neurorehabilitation from the Danube University in Krems, Austria. In 2007 she received her Master’s degree in Public Health from the University Bielefeld, Germany. From 2004 to 2008 she was a research associate in the biopsychosocial health unit, Institute for Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (IHRS) located at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, Germany where she worked in development and validation projects around the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) in collaboration with the WHO. She continued her work at Swiss Paraplegic Research, Nottwil, Switzerland until 2015. In 2012, she finalised her PhD program at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität of Munich in human biology by the topic: Functioning and disability after stroke: The patient and the health professional perspective.
