The Master Class with Prof. Heiner Fangerau (HHU Düsseldorf) took place on October 30.
During the session, two fellows in the history of medicine and biomedical ethics from the IBME presented their research.
Sara Müller (History of Medicine) gave a talk titled “Konstitution und Umwelt: Negotiating a Healthy Cattle Barn in Post-War Switzerland,” while Dr. Dr. Anna Westermair presented a Delphi study on the concept of futility in psychiatry.
Heiner Fangerau is currently professor at the Heinrich Heine University Duesseldort in Germany. He is an historian and medical ethicist known for his work at the intersection of medical history, ethics, and philosophy. His research explores the historical development of medical concepts and technologies, the ethical dimensions of medical practice, and the societal implications of advancements in healthcare.
Fangerau has held prominent academic positions, including professorships in medical history and ethics.
