Gemma is a graduate in Pharmacy from the University of Barcelona (2016-2021). She combined the last two years of her career with the study of a Humanities degree as a result of her deep interest in humanistic values. Her final degree project addressed the topic of equity in the access to prescription drugs in Spain and the so-called “pharmaceutical poverty”. She has gained working experience in community pharmacy during her last career year. She is currently completing the second year of the Master in Bioethics and Law at the University of Barcelona that she will conclude in 2023. She is also broadening her knowledge basis with the study of a Philosophy degree at the Abat Oliba CEU University in Barcelona. Thanks to the Stehr-Boldt Fellowship, she will conduct a research project at the IBME from September to December 2022 on the topic of her master thesis: the medicalisation of emotional disorders and the ethics of psychotropic drugs. She is interested in social affairs and commits part of her time to social activities such as leisure-time education for children.
