Short bio

Kristen Jafflin, PhD in sociology (University of California, Berkely), with a specialization in the sociology of health and development, is a scientific collaborator at the Institute of Biomedical Ethics and History of Medicine, University of Zurich. Dr. Jafflin’s research focuses on public health policy and promotion. Her doctoral dissertation used mixed methods to study the development of the WHO’s Expanded Programme on Immunization and its implementation in Cameroon and Malawi. Since completing her PhD in 2013, Dr. Jafflin has worked in Basel, Switzerland, as a scientific collaborator at the Institut für Soziologie and Swiss TPH. She is currently working on the NRP74 Project “Determinants of vaccine hesitancy and under-immunization with childhood and Human Papilloma Virus vaccines in Switzerland” and NRP78 Project “PubliCo – an experimental online platform for COVID-19 related public perception.”
